A place to try MI out loud
Workshops, training sessions, and intensives are valuable opportunities to learn Motivational Interviewing, and books can provide a strong conceptual foundation. Still, the real sharpening of MI skills happens in practice. When a new language is tested, conversations get a little messy, and experience starts turning ideas into instincts.
The Weekly MI Practice sessions are designed as a welcoming place to do exactly that. Each session offers a chance to practice, stumble, adjust, and keep going in the company of other helpers who are learning to listen more deeply, respond more strategically, and find their own voice as MI practitioners.
What happens here
Each session is live, interactive, and built around practice rather than lecture. After a brief opening, most of the hour is spent in small breakout rooms, giving participants meaningful time to engage rather than just observe.
Here, participants may:
Role-play, real-play, or drill specific MI skills.
Practice as the helper, the client, or the observer.
Learn alongside people at different levels of MI experience.
Connect with helping professionals from a variety of settings.
Experiment with their own style and voice as an MI practitioner.
The overall tone is supportive, curious, and growth-oriented. This is a place where mistakes are part of the process, and where practice is meant to build confidence rather than performance pressure.

Who this is for
These sessions are open to helping professionals across many roles and settings. Participants may include educators, advisors, counselors, coaches, supervisors, health and wellness professionals, therapists, case managers, peer supporters, MINT members, and others who want a regular place to practice MI with other people who care about the craft.
Some participants are brand-new to Motivational Interviewing and want a gentle place to start. Others already have significant experience and want a steady rhythm of practice that helps keep their skills sharp and their MI spirit alive over time.
No matter where you are in your MI journey, you're welcome to stop in and see if this is the right place for you.

A simple way to begin
For some, the Weekly MI Practice is a first step into the world of Evoking Change Institute. For others, it becomes an ongoing touchpoint between courses, training, and professional conversations.
Either way, it offers a meaningful way to move beyond theory and into lived practice, one hour at a time.
